WATCH: Euronews Report on Progress of HIV Vaccination
European researchers target protein on surface of virus.
Euronews reported earlier this week that scientists at the French comany Px Therapeutics were able to synthesize a protein that may be used for a vaccine against HIV.
The protein, GP41, is on the surface of the virus and therefore easy for the immune system to spot. Researchers hope that by introducing the synthesized proteins to patients, their bodies will be able to produce neutralizing antibodies that can fight the virus.
