Don't waste your money on expensive skin-care products. There are simple'and cheaper'ways to keep your skin smooth, radiant, and healthy, says Manhattan dermatologist Amy Wechsler, MD.
> For firm, bright, and wrinkle-free skin, eat colorful (and antioxidant-laden) fruits and vegetables. Best bets: sweet potatoes, tomatoes, and cantaloupe.
> For optimal collagen production, load up on vitamin C. Best bets: oranges, lemons, limes, and grapefruit.
> For sun damage and skin cancer prevention, sip hot tea containing the anti-inflammatory compound EGCG. Best bet: green tea.
> For optimal skin-cell development, eat leafy greens packed with vitamin A. Best bets: spinach, turnips, greens, and broccoli.
> To fight facial aging, eat cold-water fish high in omega-3 fatty acids. Best bets: salmon, trout, tuna, Atlantic mackerel, sardines, Pacific herring, and most shellfish.
