Activists, led by the New York'based Latino Commission on AIDS, have released a five-page report calling for increased action by federal, state, and local governments in fighting the spread of HIV among Hispanics. Their recommendations: >Strengthen partnerships between government health agencies and community-based groups serving Latinos. >Create advertising and marketing campaigns aimed at Hispanics to promote HIV antibody testing and treatment. >Develop a better understanding of the factors, such as language and cultural barriers, that contribute to a higher HIV risk for Latinos.
