Steve Harvey, a leading AIDS activist in Jamaica, was murdered on November 30, according to Jamaican police. Harvey, 30, was reportedly kidnapped from his home by four assailants and was later found in a rural area a few miles from his home with gunshot wounds to his head. Harvey's housemates say the abductors claimed they targeted him because he was gay, according to officials with the Jamaica Forum for Lesbians, All-sexuals, and Gays. Harvey had worked for Jamaica AIDS Support since 1997 and served as the country's representative to the Latin America and Caribbean Council of AIDS Service Organizations.
