Experiencing antiretroviral-related body fat changes? You might want to add strength training to your cardiovascular exercise regimen, Danish researchers suggest in a study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism. They discovered that HIVers who lifted weights three times a week over a 16-week period posted larger increases in total lean body mass and bigger losses of total fat, trunk fat, and limb fat than did HIVers who engaged only in endurance/cardiovascular exercise. According to the study, both strength training and cardio workouts also improved insulin resistance.
