If there’s one sexy nurse who knows what it means to bring sexy back, it’s 28-year old Daniel Dyviniak, an HIV-positive nurse at Tacoma General Hospital in Tacoma, Wash. The only catch is he’ll be having it with no dairy or beef, but judging from his Instagram photos, that won’t seem to be an issue for most of you.
Dyvniak is a finalist in the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals’s Sexiest Vegan Next Door contest. And after reading his profile a bit further, we discovered that not only is he HIV-positive but it was, in fact, his status that made him choose the vegan lifestyle.
After testing positive for HIV in 2013 during a routine test, he confirmed with Tacoma News Tribune, he claimed to have terrible eating habits and weighed upwards of 285 pounds. Once he was diagnosed, he became concerned not only for the well-being of himself, but for all animals.
He became vegan soon after his diagnosis, and according to his profile on PETA, “he works as a nurse and advocates a healthy, plant-based diet to people who have been newly diagnosed with HIV around the world as a way to stay healthy in spite of the harsh effects of the medication”
Dyviniak admitted it was watching a YouTube video by vegan expert Colleen Patrick-Goudreau that solidified his commitment to the lifestyle. “She was talking about the compassion that is already inside of us,” Dyviniak said to Tacoma News Tribune. “We already show it to our loved ones, but we need to unleash that value.”
He applied for the contest after his friends and family urged him to, beating out hundreds of other men. Clearly, Dynviak does not make his vegan diet a secret, nor his HIV status.
