Senate Votes to Boost Microbicide Spending
The U.S. Senate in July voted to boost spending on microbicide research to $42 million in fiscal 2006, up from $30 million in the current fiscal year. The House voted to authorize $36 million for microbicide research. Most of the federal funds are earmarked to be disbursed by U.S. Agency for International Development; $4 million will go to the International Partnership for Microbicides.
