Judy Auerbach was hired in June as deputy executive director at the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, where she will focus on science and public policy. Auerbach previously served as vice president for public policy and program development at the Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR). David J. Brinkman was hired in June as executive director of the Palm Springs, Calif.-based Desert AIDS Project. He's a former director of a Los Angeles agency helping homeless youth. Rafael Cosio was hired in May as executive director of Being Alive in Los Angeles. Cosio previously served as director of education and HIV/AIDS programs at the Pacific Pride Foundation in Santa Barbara, Calif. Sharon L. Hillier, a professor and researcher at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, was selected in June by the National Institutes of Health to lead the national Microbicide Trials Network. Ronald S. Johnson, in June was named deputy director of the AIDS Action Council, where he will oversee public policy and government affairs activities beginning in September. Johnson currently serves as associate executive director of New York City's Gay Men's Health Crisis.
