As is the case with most lists of dos, there are also some don'ts to keep in mind when managing your stress. ''Don't live in denial. 'You can't paint a pretty picture; the economy is what it is,' Segal says. 'But you can take a longer-range view of the situation, and remind yourself that although things are bad now, they won't always be.' ''Don't try to escape the situation. 'Sure, you could go to a day spa or take a vacation to the Caribbean, but the same things will be waiting for you when you come back,' Wilkinson says. 'It can be helpful to take a break and relax, but recognize it for what it is'a break, not a solution. ''Don't be afraid to ask for help. 'A lot of people, particularly breadwinners, could be dealing with feelings of inadequacy,' Parnell says. 'Don't ignore these feelings; be honest about them. It can be a very powerful thing and a huge weight off your shoulders to talk about how you're feeling and to ask for help.'
