WATCH: HIV-Positive Musician John Grant Live on Letterman
Musician John Grant, who HIV Plus profiled last year, appeared on the Late Show With David Letterman this week. Notably, the HIV-positive musician was able to sing the provocative lyric “I am the greatest mother fucker that you're ever gonna meet” from his song “GMF.” Letterman, afterward, remarked, “That was the prettiest song I've ever heard about a motherfucker.” Naturally, all expletives were bleeped from the live broadcast.
The song is from his new album, Pale Green Ghosts, and it contains the “cruelly elegant couplet:” “Half of the time I think I’m in some movie/ I play the underdog, of course/ I’m wondering who they’ll get to play me/ Maybe they could dig up Richard Burton’s corpse.”
