Singer Charli XCX Talks HIV Stats and Hot Boys

The British singer shares statistics about HIV among young people in a new PSA, and directs a sexy video for her new song, Boys.

Did you know that 1.2 million people are living with HIV/AIDS – just in the U.S. alone? Of those diagnosed with HIV, 1 in 5 are under the age of 25. Half of young people with HIV don’t even know they’ve contracted the virus and are unknowingly transmitting the disease onto others.

These type of statistics are why singer Charli XCX, best known for her international hit, "Boom Clap," has teamed up with beauty brand Kiehl's to star in a public service announcment for amfAR, the Foundation on AIDS Research. And it's these type of statistics that they hope to change.

The PSA is a part of the eighth annual Kiehl’s LifeRide for amfAR. The week-long event features a fleet of motorcycles (a signature touch of the beauty brand) traveling from Minneapolis to Nashville over eight days, starting July 31 and August 7.

The event aims to raise awareness about the importance of getting tested and knowing your status, especially for young people. Spreading the word about the risks of HIV/AIDS can save a life. The cure is in our hands to end AIDS once and for all – but we each have to do our part.

The PSA coincides with the release of Charli’s hot new video of her lastest track, “Boys,” which will hopefully help garner some more attention to the cause.  The video, which Charli directed herself, features a bevy of beautiful boy celebs, including Tom Daley, Joe Jonas and Cameron Dallas. Checkout her sexy new video as well as the LifeRide PSA below.
