As further proof of the history-altering impact of combination therapy, a new study in the journal AIDS shows that hospitalizations among HIVers has been more than halved since the approval of the first protease inhibitors was approved in the mid 1990s. And when focusing specifically on hospitalizations for AIDS-related opportunistic infections, the data showed a more than sevenfold drop.
