Money is a significant issue when you have HIV. The first initial medical tests cost Laxton approximately $3,000. Then bloodwork on follow up appointments months later cost him $1,700. Medicine has to be paid out of pocket if you’re not lucky enough to get onto a drug trial or have help from other programs. This brings the issue of not being able to take care of the financial aspect, and potentially having the virus mutate because medication was stopped. Here's how thngs worked for Aaron.
