Minority Groups Call for More Funding
A survey of 2,435 minority AIDS service organizations released in August by the National Minority AIDS Council shows that most of the groups say their government funding is either modest or inadequate, and that all government branches--from local policymakers to the federal level--need to do more in the AIDS fight. Respondents said a 30% to 40% funding increase for capacity building is needed for all groups working to provide treatment and support services to at-risk and HIV-positive minorities.
