AIDS Awareness Poets, an organization aimed at boosting HIV awareness through music, poetry, and performances, will hold its first national conference in Tampa, Fla., March 27-30, and organizers promise to turn expectations of a typical symposium on its ear. Attendees will spend most of their time away from the host hotel, interacting with local residents and passing out HIV prevention information at such hot spots as Busch Gardens and the clubs and restaurants of trendy Ybor City. Activist and AIDS Awareness Poets founder Devin T. Robinson X also will perform his one-man show God Did Not Give Me HIV.
