Early studies showing that some anti-HIV medications might work better among men than women have had HIV caregivers worrying that their female patients may not fare as well as male HIVers. But not anymore. A large study of nearly 18,000 HIVers presented at the 16th Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections has shown no gender gap. There was virtually no difference between men and women in the efficacy of combinations of 14 different antiretroviral medications after 48 weeks of treatment.
