Group Creates Affiliate on AIDS

The National Black Leadership Commission on AIDS has announced it is opening an affiliate office in metro Atlanta. The local chapter will focus on HIV prevention, treatment, and care as well as advocacy and policy development, said the Reverend Raphael G. Warnock, an NBLCA leader and senior pastor of Atlanta's historic Ebenezer Baptist Church.

The main goal is to change attitudes about testing, he said. Atlanta's HIV statistics mirror those nationwide, with African-Americans disproportionately affected, said officials.
