China: Straight Women Marrying Gay Men Lead to Problems

The majority of men in China who have sex with other men are already married to a woman or will eventually marry a woman — and according to a new study, these women are likely to contract HIV.

In a nation of approximately 20 million gay men, about 16 million of them are married to a woman. Sex expert Zhang Beichuan told UPI that Chinese women who marry gay men are likely to contract HIV and are subject to frequent and severe domestic violence.

"We should remember that society has pushed gay men into such marriages before we criticize gay people for marrying straight women," Zhang Beichuan said.
