The 6th Annual Drag Queen World Series will be taking place this weekend benefiting the Life Group LA, and the queens are pulling in all the stops this year!
Audiences will watch The LA Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and The West Hollywood Cheerleaders compete for the title in a game that is sure to be fun, comedic, and of course full of antics. And it's going to be so much more than baseball. With a comedy performance by Margot Evans, colorful commentary by Chico’s Angels’ Freida Laye & Chita Parol, and the National Anthem sung by recording artist Irene Soderberg, this is sure to be the best World Series yet.
All money raised at the event will go to the Life Group LA, a coalition of people dedicated to the education, empowerment, and emotional support of those impacted by HIV. Founded in 2005, the organization provides free of charge, much needed information and emotional support through medical forums and emotional support groups.
The West Hollywood Cheerleaders was founded in 1986 by volunteers dedicated to addressing social stereotypes and ending the stigma surrounding HIV. In 1998, the was even given an official commendation from the City of West Hollywood as the “Ambassadors of Goodwill and Friendship.”
The Los Angeles Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence’s mission is “to embrace our gay and diverse selves and each other as we are today, as we were born and as we are meant to be,” as said in a statement. The Order strives to strengthen the community through drag activism, by raising much-needed funds for community charities, and by bringing about a better understanding of gay spirituality.
Needless to say, it’s going to be a great game! Check out more information below:
