Worried about high blood pressure? Eat more grapes, urge researchers at the University of Michigan. They found that animals fed an otherwise salty diet -- a known risk factor for hypertension -- posted lower blood-pressure levels, improved heart function, and reduced inflammation when red, green, and purple grapes were added to their diet. The researchers believe heart-healthy compounds in the grapes called flavenoids, which also are found in green tea and tomatoes, conveyed the health benefits.
