Project Runway favorite Mondo Guerra was named the winner of Project Runway All Stars Thursday night with his collection, "Therapy."
Guerra, who came out as HIV-positive during his first appearance on the show in season 8, said the six pieces in his collection was inspired by his own need to seek catharsis. After announcing his status on the show, Guerra told HIV Plus that his family has stuck by him through it all.
'My entire family has really stepped up to the plate,' he says. 'Now they have put a face to the disease and have sought out the materials to educate themselves. Within my own little family ' well, I'm Mexican, so it's not that little ' to see them educate themselves and talk openly about HIV and ask me questions makes me really proud to know that within my community, I've made a difference. I hope that continues with my advocacy work.'
Guerra lost season 8 to designer Gretchen Jones. But winning Project Runway All Stars makes him the biggest winner in the show's history, with a cash prize of $100,000 as well as a year-long guest editorship at Marie Claire magazine, and an exclusive boutique at Neiman Marcus.
