No Stranger to Salvage
I had to write to tell Nelson Vergel to keep fighting ['Survivor,' August]. I wish him good health and good luck. I too have been diagnosed with AIDS with similar treatment challenges. What else is there to say but 'Never ever give in or give up.'

Knows the Feeling
LeRoy Whitfield's fatigue piece correlates with how I feel daily. My kids were here for the summer, and after spending time with them and with the heat here in Miami Beach as well as my son's untimely sickness and subsequent time in the hospital, I was wiped out for days.
I get up exhausted. Go to bed exhausted. Drag all day. And their energy level peaks after 9 p.m., when I am dead tired. It is a bitch.

Making the Human Connection
Mr. Whitfield, I just want to tell you how much I anticipate reading your Native Tongue column in each issue. I have worried about you and prayed for you in following your account of your journey. Your honesty and humanity are so necessary in order for others to continue to focus on the human face of AIDS in the pandemic.

Research for Research
I enjoyed Dan Bowers's article on crystal meth and HIV infection in the August 2005 issue [Clinic]. These are very important issues, and I'm comforted to know he is out there studying and reporting it.
I would like to share with you a recent article I wrote about sex, drugs, and HIV within the circuit party context.

Loves Every Page
Thank you for all the information in your fabulous magazine. I enjoy it cover to cover. It was given to me by one of my patients, and I am now on your mailing list.
I'm most grateful, since I am a physician assistant working at the Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where I lead HIV education classes.
I am planning on retiring in two years and would like to continue as a health educator for HIV clients part-time. I hope to have a subscription to HIV Plus then too.
