A lack of Spanish-speaking workers in Maryland public-health clinics is so severe that Spanish-speaking janitors and support staff are being asked to translate complex'and confidential'health information for clients, including HIV-related matters, according to an immigrant-advocacy organization. Many clinics also provide printed HIV prevention and treatment materials only in English, which violates a U.S. law requiring publicly funded clinics to make all services available to non-English-speaking clients, according to Casa of Maryland.
