An HIV case in an adult-film performer has representatives of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation calling on California's pornography industry to temporarily halt production.
AHF president Michael Weinstein says an industry-wide closure is the right thing to do to protect the health of other adult-film actors. At least half a dozen companies have already halted production, including Vivid Entertainment and Wicked Pictures.
The HIV diagnosis was made by the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation, a San Fernando Valley–based clinic that caters to actors in the industry. Clinic officials say they are working to identify and notify actors who may have worked with the HIV-positive actor to conduct additional testing.
