After numerous fits and starts, a biographical film about a man who smuggled AIDS drugs in the 1980s may finally get off the ground.
The Dallas Buyer's Club centers on Ron Woodroof, a straight Texas man diagnosed with AIDS in 1986, the Los Angeles Times reports. Woodroof smuggled drugs, at that point illegal, that prolonged his life and the lives of numerous other AIDS sufferers.
Actor Matthew McConaughey is now attached to the independent film, while Jean-Marc Vallée (The Young Victoria) will direct.
