Del Shores, the award-winning writer, director, and producer of Sordid Lives and Queer as Folk, will appear this year as a guest star at Cirque de Nuit, the Atlanta Cotillion's annual charity event. Described as one of Atlanta's most fashion-forward events, the evening will benefit AID Atlanta, the Southeast's largest AIDS service organization, which is dedicated to "saving and transforming lives" impacted by HIV/AIDS. Over the past 11 years, the organization has received $1.2 million from Atlanta Cotillion's annual gala.
On June 8, guests will gather at Atlanta's Delta Heritage Museum (housed in an historic Delta Airlines hangar) and can chat, pose for photos, and receive autographs from Shores in the VIP Lounge before the event. The event itself starts at 7p.m. and will feature music by DJs Mike Pope and Todd Skelton, an open bar, hors d'oeuvres, a silent auction, blackjack tables, and what organizers call the "wildest mix of entertainment" — including some seen only in a French circus.
The best part of the soiree is the suggested dress code: Fierce/fantasy drag, creative/fashion-forward/avant-garde cocktail, edgy jacket/suit/tuxedo with a twist, urban/uptown chic, dress uniform. Talk about fashion forward.
Tickets for the event can be purchased at the AtlantaCotillion.com.
