According to Lambda Legal, a civil rights organization, 32 U.S. states have criminal laws that govern the transmission of HIV, although none go so far as to categorize the act as homicide. In many states, it's a felony to have sex with someone without disclosing your positive serostatus. To date there have been an estimated 200 HIVers convicted for criminal HIV transmission or exposure, according to Lambda Legal.
