The Talk: A Beginner’s Guide on Finding Care and Treatment

the Talk

People living with HIV bravely share their stories on finding care and treatment in Plus’ forthcoming video series, The Talk.

They say starting is the hardest part, and it is true. One of the most challenging first steps for individuals living with HIV to find treatment is — believe it or not — talking about it with a doctor or health care provider.

That is why in 2021, Plus will launch The Talk. This new editorial video series will profile four patients of diverse cultural backgrounds from around the country who are diagnosed with HIV, and share their stories in finding support and treatment. Plus will provide the interviewees with a safe space, to speak freely and talk candidly about their initial conversation, aka “the talk,” that they had respectively with their physicians about HIV treatment. Rather than give health care advice, our storytellers will share their monumental moments, lived obstacles, and empowering feelings from communicating with health care workers regarding their health and receiving proper treatment. This positive and light-hearted series will aim to destigmatize HIV and encourage others to have “the talk” with their doctors, so that they are able to receive care for their health as soon as possible.
