Court Backs Federal HIV Discrimination
A U.S. district judge ruled in April that the State Department can maintain its policy denying Foreign Service employment to HIV-positive applicants. Administration officials say the policy is necessary because of uncertain access to HIV care overseas, even for people with well-controlled HIV infection. The case was brought by federal employee Lorenzo Taylor, who was profiled in the May 2004 issue of HIV Plus.
